Our May WordPress Birmingham meetup is a special one! We’re lucky to have Siobhan McKeown joining us, all the way from Belfast, in Northern Ireland!

Siobhan works at Audrey Capital, WordPress Co-Founder Matt Mullenweg’s angel investment and research firm, where she is the acting “Word Ninja.” Siobhan is a WordPress Docs extraordinaire, a writer, a Smashing Magazine contributor, and she’s also writing a book on the history of WordPress.

I will be doing a Q & A with Siobhan at the meetup. It’s a great opportunity to learn about WordPress, the community, writing, and how Siobhan got to where she is today.

It’s important to note that this meetup will be on Wednesday, the 22nd, NOT our normal Monday meetup schedule. As as additional programming note, Infomedia is graciously offering to provide food for this meetup, so please come if you RSVP so we know how much food to ask for, and bring your appetite!

I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Nov 14th WordPress Meetup: Dan Gavin will speak about the versatility of Gravity Forms at Pale Eddies Pour House. Never heard of Gravity Forms? Check it out Here.

Dan will give us live demonstration and explain to us the pros and cons of using the plugin, what he has found to be particularly useful, and other examples. Please join us!

Here is a bio of Dan below:

Dan Gavin, Designer & Developer at Scout Branding Company

Dan hails from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He spent most of his childhood and high school years playing soccer and drawing.

After making a difficult life decision whether to play soccer for no one (he is actually an all state defender) or attend Pratt Institute, Dan was off to New York to explore design school and that famous NY pizza. Dan is a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where he received a BFA in Graphic Design. After finishing school he continued working for a private label fashion company, until he relocated to Alabama.

Dan has spent the past year working on a project in Greensboro, AL called PieLab. PieLab was born out of a Project M session by a group of graphic designers and is founded on the idea that simple things, like delicious pie and good conversation, can bring us together and spread joy.

Dan loves interactive and exploring the possibilities of WordPress. His web skills include: Flash, xml, html, php, and MySQL. He also enjoys designing for print projects and is fascinated with newsprint. While not at Scout, Dan enjoys fixed gear bikes, short walks on the beach, and typography.
